Legal Notice-2026 Election

LEGAL NOTICE

 

The Board of Directors of the Nature Works Conservancy District invites potential candidates for membership on the Board of Directors of the Conservancy District to file a nominating petition pursuant to I.C. 14-33-5-3.  Three directorship positions will be elected at the Nature Works Conservancy District annual meeting in February 2026. One of the directorship positions is an at-large position serving all of the Aberdeen Planned Unit Development and is currently held by incumbent Board Member Kevin Steele.  This election will be for a new four-year term of the Governing Board.  The second directorship position is an at-large position serving all of the Aberdeen Planned Unit Development and is currently held by incumbent Board Member Dave Janney and will be for the two years remaining on the unexpired term to which he was appointed. The third directorship position represents all of the properties included within the Nature Works Conservancy District but outside the Aberdeen Planned Unit Development and is currently held by incumbent Board Member Geoff Blanco. This election will be for a full four-year term.  

 

Any candidate for the positions on the Board of Directors of the Nature Works Conservancy District must be freeholders from within the directorship area for which the candidate seeks election.  A candidate must also be qualified by knowledge and experience in matters pertaining to the development of the Conservancy District.  A candidate may also be nominated by a corporate freeholder.

 

Anyone qualified and interested in seeking the directorship positions must file a nominating petition signed by at least five (5) freeholders from the directorship area for which the candidate is seeking election.  Any nominating petition must be filed by delivering it to the offices of the Conservancy District Financial Clerk located at 3408 Enterprise Avenue, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383, or the nominating petition may be mailed to the same address.  If the nominating petition is hand delivered to the offices of Conservancy District Financial Clerk, it must be delivered prior to November 30, 2025.  Nominating petitions that are mailed are valid if they are delivered or postmarked (private postage meter postmarks will not be accepted) before November 30, 2025, if the envelope has sufficient United States Postage and is addressed to the offices of the Financial Clerk of the Nature Works Conservancy District.
